All About Chinese Astrology
What is the Chinese Zodiac?
The Chinese Zodiac, also known as Shengxiao, is a classification scheme based on a 12-year cycle. Each year is associated with a specific animal sign, and these signs are believed to determine a person's characteristics, fortune, and compatibility with others. The 12 animal signs in the Chinese Zodiac are:
Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig
Each animal sign is also associated with one of the five elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. This creates a 60-year cycle, where each animal sign is combined with each element once every 12 years.
The Chinese Zodiac is widely used in Chinese culture for various purposes, such as determining auspicious dates for important events, predicting compatibility between individuals, and providing insights into personal characteristics and fortune. It is also often used to celebrate the Chinese New Year, with each year being associated with a different animal sign.
